Terms of Use for SoftDL

What this site is

SoftDL publishes reviews and guides written by people who spend their working days installing, updating, and fixing software for colleagues who would rather not think about it. Everything here is our opinion, based on our own experience with the tools we write about. It is not a guarantee that a program will behave the same way on your machine, with your version of Windows, or with your particular set of peripherals. Test anything important before you rely on it.

What you may do with the content

Read it, print it, save it for later, and share links with whoever needs them. Quoting a paragraph or two is fine (keep the meaning intact and mention where it came from). What is not fine: republishing whole articles or large portions of them on your own site, blog, or newsletter, and scraping the site by automated means to build a copy or feed another service. If you want to translation or reproduce a full guide, ask us through the contact page on this site first.

Comment rules

Comments exist so readers can compare notes. Keep them on topic, keep them civil, and do not paste links to downloads (we cannot vouch for what is behind them). No advertising, no impersonation, no personal attacks on other commenters. We read comments when we can and remove anything that breaks these rules, usually without discussion. If a comment saved you a headache, say so; that helps everyone.

Liability

You follow the instructions here at your own risk. We describe what worked for us, but we cannot see your setup and cannot promise a guide will fix your problem or leave your system untouched. Back up your files before making changes. To the extent the law allows, SoftDL accepts no responsibility for data loss, downtime, damaged hardware, or any other loss that follows from using the information on this site.
